Cleo Clarence Walter, passed away September 28th, 2024, in Kalispell MT. He was born January 8th, 1951, to Gilbert and Winifred Walter in Helena, MT. He grew up 1 of 5 children and his life ultimately led him to join the Air Force in 1971. There, he was part of the Minuteman Missile Unit and was stationed at the Malstrom AFB in Great Falls MT. During his time in the Air Force Cleo welcomed his daughter Dawnetta with Kayleen Morgan.

After being discharged from the Air Force, Cleo went on to meet his wife, Penny. They married and were together for 28 years. Together they share 3 children, Kendra, Cody and Kyla.

For most of Cleo’s life he traveled across the country driving truck, often, taking his kids and wife along for a ride. Cleo started his own company, although a stroke in his 40s forced him to stop working.

Cleo was a man of many talents. He was very skilled at playing guitar, woodworking and was an amazing artist. For many years his wood working (a handmade steamboat) was on display at the Evaro bar in Evaro, MT.

Cleo was also a man of very few words, even though his presence was profound to those that knew and loved him. Always dressed in his Levi’s with a belt buckle, cowboy boots and a snap button shirt, you couldn’t miss him.

Words don’t come close to expressing what a great man, father and grandfather he was. His love for his grandchildren was unending. Cleo was quiet, with the most loving heart, and based on the stories we hear, a wild soul.

Until we see you again, we love you, Dad.

Cleo is preceded in death by his mom and dad, sister Joan Bahm and 2 infant grandchildren.

Cleo is survived by his sister Cindy (Ken) Clairmont, brothers Bud and Fred Walter. Children Dawnetta (Floyd) Hopkinson, Kendra (Jason) Bachmeier, Cody (Amanda) Walter and Kyla Walter. 11 grandchildren and a great grandson.

Services with military honors are pending and Cleo will be laid to rest at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel, Montana.
