Let me tell you the untold stories of an epic car racing flagman. On July 18, 2021, Guy Wade Stinger received his black flag out of the mortal realm, and has now entered into the big raceway in the sky. The epic tales of his life will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
After a couple practice laps, the green flag was given. On April 2, 1964, Guy entered the world where it all began. He was born to Victor and Victoria Stinger of Pablo, Montana. He attended school in the Pablo Ronan School District, graduating high school in 1982. He had several jobs in the community, finally settling in as a Quality Assurance Inspector for S&K Electronics where he spent the last 29 years.
Guy had many yellow flag moments, which often lead to many rolled-up black flag warnings. Much to his parent’s dismay, he drove full speed; pedal to the metal, into his teen and adult years as a fun loving young man whose passion for anything fun with friends began. Now when I say fun, I’m not only referring to typical teen and early adult fun, I’m referring to the fact that Guy lived life with as much passion as he could pack into each day. He had an undying love for AC/DC (where he sung like he was the lead singer), his Ford Ranchero, his friends, and his family. He was also known for his unparalleled dance moves, bigger than life parties, his time spent in a tutu while playing in an air guitar band (there are pictures to corroborate this claim), and making sure that everyone knew they were loved and cared for. It was also during this time he found a profound love for racing stock cars.
In 1982, Guy and his long time friends, Leon and Scott, built a racecar. It was white and black, kind of looked like an old police car, and wore the number B351, which was specific to the Bomber Class. While that was fun, a red flag was thrown that took guy on a detour to his next racing adventure…Flagman. He fit the role well. Clad in white pants and a black and white shirt, he was a force to be reckoned with. He had flag moves like no other. The passion showed with each wave of the flag. You could find him flagging races on the weekends, lending a hand to his friend Corey Wolfe with his car, or rooting on his favorite Nascar driver, Kurt Busch. His love for racing was truly evident to all that knew him.
The checkered flag was really where Guy shined. He was a winner through and through. He met his wife of 30 years when they were in elementary school. Lisa would come to visit her grandmother in Pablo each summer. Guy’s moves were so smooth, Lisa later reconnected with him and they married on October 25, 1991. They were an inseparable couple that went on to raise a beautiful family while forging the greatest friendships with those around them.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa, his three children Tim (Shanelle) Long, Becca Long (Travis Summy), Courtney Stinger (TJ Siple), 9 beautiful grandchildren who were his world, his brothers David and Bruce and his sister Misty. He is preceded in death by a still born son, baby David, his parents, two brothers, Mark and Cory, and one sister, Kathy.
For those who want to remember him he will have his final ride on Saturday the 24th at the Mission Valley Super Oval.
A (in his own words) big A$% party will follow in the pits after the races that evening with the only allowed soundtrack supplied by AC/DC. In lieu of flowers, cards or donations, the family asks kindly to make donations to Mission Valley Super Oval or your favorite driver.
