Nola passed away in Ronan on Dec. 1, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Everett, Washington, to Helge and Irene Hansen. She was raised in East Sunnyside and attended East Sunnyside and Lake Stevens Schools.
Nola married Frank Frazee in 1955 and moved with their daughter, Darlene, to Kansas to follow Frank’s Navy career. After being stationed in California they moved back to Washington and settled in Everett. By then they had three sons, Monty, Russell and Timmy Jo (deceased in infancy), and daughter Carla. Frank and Nola divorced in 1969 and she married Leon “Cage” Galloway. They were married 29 years until his death in 1998 in Ronan.
Nola worked as a bartender in Arlington, Washington, for many years. She also worked as a housekeeper for the elderly through the Lake County Council on Aging and then for St. Luke Hospital and Nursing Home. She loved her work there and took much pride in it. She also had hobbies, which she loved to share, including hooked rugs, country music and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all she loved gardening.
She is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Darlene (Bob) Kurtzenacker, of Ronan; sons, Monty Frazee of Everett, Washington, and Russell Frazee of Lake Stevens, Washington; and daughter, Carla Metcalf (husband, Michael Buchanen) of Polson. She had eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her sisters, Shirley (Dick) Carr of Camano Island, Washington, and Myrna (Gordon, deceased) Strand of Marysville, Washington, also survive her.
Nola’s parents; her husband, Leon Galloway; her ex-husband, Frank Frazee; son Timmy Jo Frazee; and brother-in-law, Gordon Strand, all predecease her.
As per her wishes, she was cremated and this spring her ashes will be spread on the mountainside to be with Lee.
We will miss her so much.
Any correspondences may be sent to the Kurtzenacker residence at 32944 Pine Rock Lane, in Ronan.
