Robert "Bert" Todd III

November 26, 1933 — August 5, 2020

Robert “Bert” L. Todd III, passed at the age of 86, on August 5, 2020 at St. Luke Hospital in Ronan. He was born November 26, 1933 in Bozeman, Montana, son of late Robert L. Todd and Sarah Schaffer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen “Cookie” Todd of Anaconda, his three sons, Edward, William (Lee Demmitt) and Kyle (Veronica), five grandchildren, Conrad, Chelsea, Marissa, Elianna, Lainey and four great grandchildren, his brother Dan Todd, and many nieces and nephews.

A Korean War Veteran, his mission in life was to support and mentor his fellow veterans in the Mission Valley. Bert was an avid reader of history, especially about the Korean War and other military theater operations. He worked as a logger, his true passion, as owner and operator in the mountains of Montana and later went to work for Lake County until his retirement.

His family knew him as a kind and loving man, who always had the right thing to say (even if it was wildly inappropriate). Dad was a hero and a guiding light to his sons and was known for his entertaining stories, which he loved to share. He felt strongly about giving back to his community and volunteered at the Charlo Lions Club, Ronan VFW Post 5652 as a service officer and trustee, American Legion Post 126, the Charlo Fire Department, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans Warrior Society and Mission Valley Honor Guard.

He wished for a graveside service at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula. Services will be held Monday, August 17 , 2020 at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held that evening at the Todd Residence south of Charlo from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 126, Charlo.
